ITACA-UPV leads innovation in urban mobility with its new technology

Antonio Martínez Millana and Alfonso Tedesco participated in Intertraffic 2024, held in Amsterdam from 16 to 20 April, where they presented the patented ARGOS SafeRoads sensor.

Researchers from the Traffic Control Systems (Mobility in Urban Environments) group at the ITACA-UPV Institute, Antonio Martínez Millana and Alfonso Tedesco, recently participated in the Intertraffic 2024 event, held in Amsterdam from 16 to 20 April.

This meeting, a benchmark in traffic issues, brings together experts and professionals from the urban mobility industry who present the latest developments in the sector.

Thanks to the support of the ITACA Institute and the I2T-UPV, Antonio Martínez Millana and Alfonso Tedesco presented the ARGOS SafeRoads system, a patented sensor that allows obtaining the magnetic profile of personal mobility vehicles, such as bicycles and scooters, as well as calculating the instantaneous passing speed.

«SafeRoads is a patented sensor that has revolutionised traffic analysis in urban mobility, as it allows obtaining the magnetic profile of personal mobility vehicles, such as bicycles and scooters, and calculating the instantaneous passing speed with unprecedented accuracy. This system uses advanced detection technology to record the movements of these vehicles, providing detailed information on their speed and direction in real time,’ detailed researcher Martínez Millana from the ITACA Institute.

Advantages of the SafeRoad sensor

The implementation of this system in road infrastructures promises to significantly improve the safety and efficiency of urban traffic. This is because it provides accurate data on the behaviour of personal mobility vehicles.

SafeRoads is a patented sensor that has revolutionised traffic analysis in urban mobility.

ARGOS has the potential to facilitate the integration of personal mobility vehicles into the urban environment in a safe way, promoting sustainable transport and the reduction of congestion and pollution in cities,» said Alfonso Tedesco.

Finally, participation in Intertraffic 2024 is an important step in the advancement of urban mobility research and consolidates the UPV’s leadership in developing innovative solutions to modern traffic challenges.
