Stanford Ranking

José Vicente Manjón, ITACA-UPV researcher, has been included among the top 2% most influential scientists in the world.

José Vicente Manjón, a researcher at the Medical Image Analysis Lab (MIA-LAB) group at the ITACA Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), has been included in the prestigious ‘Ranking of the World Scientists: World’s Top 2% Scientists’, made by Stanford University.

The ranking, which highlights the most internationally cited scientists in their respective areas of research, includes two main categories: one that analyzes the scientific impact throughout the researcher’s career and another that evaluates its relevance during the last year. The ITACA researcher has been included in the latter, highlighting the impact and international visibility of the work carried out by the group in the last year.

‘This recognition reflects the effort and dedication of our group to advancing biomedical image processing to improve our understanding of the evolution of the human brain and its application in the diagnosis of neurological diseases,’ says José Vicente Manjón, head of the Medical Image Analysis Lab (MIA-LAB) group.

About the MIA-LAB-ITACA group

The MIA-LAB-ITACA group specialises in developing advanced technologies for biomedical image processing, with a particular focus on MRI data.

‘Our goal is to contribute to the progress of the field through innovative tools that enable tasks such as denoising, super-resolution, data harmonisation and image synthesis, as well as tackling complex challenges such as image segmentation and classification’, explains Manjón.

The group combines the design of classical algorithms with the application of state-of-the-art deep learning methods. In addition, its research focuses on improving the understanding of pathologies such as Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease, with the aim of optimising both diagnoses and potential treatments.

This achievement reaffirms the ITACA-UPV Institute’s position as an international benchmark in biomedical research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and technology for the benefit of society.
