EP Analytics Lab and COR groups, referents at the ‘Computing in Cardiology’ conference

The ITACA groups shared their latest developments at the international conference held in Madrid, which brought together more than 400 professionals from around the world

Researchers from the Cardiac Oriented Research (COR) and Electrophysiology Analytics Lab (EP Analytics Lab) groups at the ITACA Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) took part in Computing in Cardiology (CinC), held in Madrid from 20 to 23 September. The two groups presented different scientific contributions in oral and poster sessions.

The conference brought together more than 400 researchers, engineers, and healthcare professionals from around the world to share advances in applying computing to clinical cardiology and cardiovascular physiology.

Raquel Monllor (COR) presented research on the potential of digital twins.

ITACA’s participation highlights the research activity of two leading groups in cardiovascular area. COR combines biomedical engineering and artificial intelligence to contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias through innovative, non-invasive methods.

EP Analytics Lab focuses on interpreting and analysing intracavitary and non-invasive cardiac signals, collaborating with clinical and multidisciplinary teams.

Elisa Ramírez (EP Analytics LAB) presented «Evaluation of Multielectrode Catheter Configuration for Cardiac Signal Interpolation and Omnipolar Signal Computation»

Recognition for Corify Care researchers

Researchers from Corify Care, a spin-off of the UPV and Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, also received recognition at the conference. Founded by researchers from COR and the hospital, the company develops medical devices to improve the clinical management of cardiac arrhythmias, from diagnosis to treatment planning and delivery.

Berta Pellicer Sendra received the Clinical Needs Translational Award. In addition, Adriana Costafreda Martín was a semi-finalist and Jorge Vicente Puig a finalist in the Rosanna Degani Young Investigators’ Award.

Berta Pellicer received the Clinical Needs Translational Award delivered by José Millet, EP Analytics Labs.

ITACA’s strong presence at the conference, together with the recognition received by Corify Care researchers, highlights the contribution of these teams to advancing computational cardiology and developing innovative solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Strategies for adapting European forests to extreme climate

ITACA researchers have coordinated the INFORMA FORESTS project. Over four years, the project has worked across five European biogeographical regions to analyse how to increase the resilience of forest ecosystems to increasingly severe threats, including prolonged droughts, large wildfires, pests and extreme weather events.
