María Guillem takes office as the new director of ITACA

The institutional ceremony was held on 7 April in the Paraninfo of the UPV.

María Guillem Sánchez officially assumed the directorship of the ITACA Institute on 7 April, during the institutional ceremony held at the Paraninfo of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Although her appointment came into effect on 1 March, the swearing-in ceremony coincided with the inauguration of the new rectoral team and other significant appointments within the university.

A leading researcher and head of the COR group, Guillem succeeds José Manuel Catalá, who has led the Institute for the past eight years. With over twelve years of experience as deputy director, Guillem begins this new phase with a vision focused on growth, scientific excellence and continuous improvement.

She is joined on the management team by Antonio Martínez Millana, Head of the Traffic Control Systems Group (SCT) and researcher at SABIEN, and David de Andrés Martínez, researcher in the Fault-Tolerant Systems Group (STF).

A team led by ITACA researchers develop a real-time environmental monitoring system

The system has been implemented at the Toros del Prado del Navazo rock shelter, one of the most representative sites of post-Paleolithic rock art. The study led by Ángel Perles and Ricardo Mercado, ITACA researchers, in collaboration with the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of UPV and the University of Zaragoza.
