At the ITACA Institute’s Wireless Sensor Networks (RIS) area, we leverage our expertise in wireless technologies, microcontrollers, energy-saving techniques, energy-harvesting techniques, and sensors to develop custom embedded electronic systems tailored to your specific requirements. Our focus is on designing low-power wide area networks (LP-WAN) capable of supporting complex applications with years of autonomy.

By utilizing industry-standard protocols such as LoRa or Sigfox, we ensure interoperability with commercial products, allowing seamless integration into existing IoT ecosystems. Our designs offer greater device connectivity and wider coverage than traditional mobile technologies, enabling efficient data collection and environmental monitoring.

With over 25 years of experience in communications networks research and embedded electronic systems design, the RIS area is well-equipped to deliver innovative solutions. Our portfolio includes successful projects such as termite detection in wood with over a decade of autonomy, electronic control units for diesel engines, CO2 monitoring in livestock farms, and underwater communications nodes utilizing ultrasound.
