The SAVE-COR and iRaise projects, awarded by the EIT Health Spain Foundation for their impact on innovation and health education

The EIT Health Spain Foundation has recognized the SAVE-COR and iRaise projects with the awards for «Best Innovation Project» and «Best Education Project 2024», respectively.

SAVE-COR, coordinated by Corify and developed by researchers from the COR-ITACA group, has created ACORYS, an innovative solution that allows non-invasive identification of the heart region where an arrhythmia originates. iRaise, led by SABIEN-ITACA and AQuAS (Agència de Qualitat i Avaluació Sanitàries de Catalunya), is a training program designed to provide healthcare professionals with key tools to evaluate and adopt healthcare innovations sustainably.

These awards were presented at InnPulso Salud, Spain’s premier event for healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship, held on March 31 and April 1 in Valencia.

The event brought together key representatives of the healthcare ecosystem, with more than 30 speakers from health organizations, as well as representatives from two ministries, universities, professional and patient associations, startups, investors and major corporations in the sector.

The presentation of the “Brújula de la Innovación en Salud 2025” report

One of the most significant moments was the presentation of the Health Innovation Compass 2025 Report, prepared by the EIT Health Spain Foundation. This study analyzes the public and private healthcare sectors and highlights that healthcare innovation is progressing faster than its adoption within the Spanish healthcare system.

Among its key findings, the report highlights a lack of connection between health research and its market application, creating significant barriers to the transfer of innovation into the healthcare system.

Survey respondents identified the following essential measures to facilitate the adoption of innovation in healthcare:

  • Collaboration between sector stakeholders (81%)
  • Increased public investment (73%)
  • Implementation of support structures and incentives for professionals within healthcare organizations (72%)

SAVE-COR: A revolution in arrhythmia diagnosis

The SAVE-COR project (Stratification of Atrial and Ventricular Arrhythmias based on Electrocardiographic Imaging) has developed ACORYS®, an innovative solution that allows non-invasive localization of the heart region where an arrhythmia originates.

Researchers from SAVE-COR project

This technology combines advanced 3D imaging software with a high-density system of 128 electrodes, generating a detailed map of the heart’s electrical activity.

This breakthrough represents a milestone in the diagnosis and treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, providing specialists with a high-precision tool to improve clinical decision-making and optimize patient care.

iRaise: Innovation in the healthcare sector

iRaise (Ed. Programme in High-Value Care Innovation Adoption) is a training programme designed to equip multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals with the skills needed to identify unmet needs, evaluate solutions, and adopt innovations sustainably.

Over 11 weeks and 60 hours of training, the program combines synchronous and asynchronous sessions in a hybrid learning model. Its approach focuses on developing key skills such as:

  • Interpersonal communication
  • Teamwork
  • Critical thinking

This promotes continuous improvement in clinical care, education, and research within healthcare environments.
